« back to classes page
Jeannette Cockroft's lifetime passion for Chinese culture and language gave her an opportunity of a lifetime. She will discuss and share her experience of daily life in China while teaching there as a Fulbright lecturer in 2016-2017. You will realize that in many ways, university life in China is much like university life in the US.. and when it is not, it is an incredible adventure. Learn what is different and what is the same about the Chinese culture, how students and the Chinese perceive Americans living in China.
I will be talking about the undergraduate college experience; that should be something most audience members can relate to. The University at which I taught was in Chongqing, some of the audience may know this place as Chungking, the WWII capital of Nationalist China and others may know it as the starting point of the Yangtze River/Three Gorges Dam River cruise.
