Comparing COVID-19 to Influenza

ID : 49589
« back to classes page
We are entering our regular flu season caused by influenza viruses. Probably, the coronavirus will be present along with the influenza viruses, and potentially several other respiratory viruses. The challenge will be understanding the potential impact that these viral infections may have when occurring together. This presentation will compare and contrast respiratory viral infections; their symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention. The 1918-1920 Spanish flu will be used for comparison to COVID-19 and similar seasonal respiratory viral infections. Because strains of the swine flu influenza virus are being isolated from swine in China, potential future virus infections will be included. The current status of influenza and COVID-19 in Kerr County will be used to illustrate what is happening in our local communities.
